Professional Women Toastmasters Celebrates 5-Years of Empowering Leadership

Professional Women Toastmasters will mark its 5th anniversary with a virtual celebratory meeting on Monday, March 22, 2021. In honor of the occasion, the Toastmasters District 12 Program Quality Director, Suzanne Leonard, will be a guest speaker. Since 2016, the club has been dedicated to empowering individuals to become better leaders and communicators. Guests are encouraged to join the celebration and to learn more about Toastmasters.

“I remember when I first joined Toastmasters and I would meet other ladies who were interested in improving their communication and leadership skills, but the meeting times did not work for them”, says Esther Phahla, Founder of Professional Women Toastmasters. “One of the Toastmasters clubs that I co-founded meets at 7am on Friday morning and these ladies could not attend because that was the time to drive their kids to school. The other clubs in our community meet in the evenings, that’s homework and dinner time. An idea popped up! How about we start a lunch time Toastmasters club when the children are at school to give these women an opportunity to improve their communication and leadership skills. That was the birth of Professional Women Toastmasters Club. It is exciting to see the support and mentoring these women give each other. Here’s to more years of growth!”

“Professional Women Toastmasters provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to overcome their fear of public speaking and sharpen presentation skills,” says Kathy Sizemore, President of Professional Women Toastmasters. “Other benefits include the opportunity to increase one’s confidence, build critical thinking skills and become an effective listener”.
