Artists are encouraged to enter the poster design contest for the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine scheduled for May 31, June 1 and 2, 2013. To be accepted, the original artwork must be created in a 2-D medium of oils, watercolor, pastels, mixed media, acrylic, photography and/or colored pencil. (No reproductions or mechanical manipulation.) Artists must be 18 years of age or older.
This year the Festival theme is “Let the Good Times Roll” and should be considered when designing the artwork. This is also the 30th anniversary of the popular event. Artists can view samples of previous winners at the festival office. Subject matter should include the key components of the festival – hot air balloons, wine tasting and vineyards, food and a festive environment. All entries must be 18″ x 24″ in size. They do not need to be framed but should be ready for viewing with a support that is heavy enough to hold the artwork upright in a professional manner.
“We recommend you stop by the office to see previous winners,” stated executive director Carol Popejoy. “Also if the artist does not use canvas for their painting, we recommend discussing with us the best material to use for accurate reproduction.”
The deadline February 1, at 3 p.m. Contact the office for a 2013 poster contest prospectus at (951) 676-6713 or visit the office at 41755 Rider Way, Unit 1 in Temecula. The form can also be downloaded at http://www.ittybittyurl.com/hru.
