Old Town’s Hot Summer Nights in August

Hot summer nights continues with five or more bands performing each Friday night through August 31. New this year is the “Party in the Park” where families are encouraged to picnic in the park, sit back and enjoy the music and entertainment at Town Square.  Party in the Park nights are August 17 and August 31 (Labor Day weekend) and offer one of Hot Summer Night’s more popular bands at the Civic Center Quad, a giant obstacle course/party jumps, pony rides, popcorn and soft drink vendors, and Dynamite Dave.

 

Nitro Express will perform at the August 17 Party in the Park. The band has influences ranging from Bakersfield to Liverpool, Nashville to London, Texas to Chicago, Detroit to Sweet Home Alabama, and many points in between. Other bands performing throughout August are:

 

August 3: Guilty Conscience, Vini Contreas, Valley Winds and The Bash. Edutainment at the Merc will feature Scott Gates and Salty Suites a bluegrass band with a unique new grass sound utilizing an according in the mix. Gates will do a workshop on “finding your own sound.”.

August 10: Hoodoo Blues, Jim King Jamba, Deek & Long, Caylie Gregario and Rocky Zharp and the Blues Crackers. Edutainment in the Merc will feature King and Zharp in a 30 minute blues workshop, then Rocky Zharp will perform a concert.

August 17: When Pigs Fly, Waylon Hicks Project, Valley Winds and the Party in the Park with Nitro Express. Edutainment will feature the Fallbrook Orchestra Chamber Players.

August 24: Kanan Road, Bill Magee Blues Band, Two of Us, Caylie Gregario and Fusion Beat. Edutainment at the Merc will feature  Fusion Beat on “How to be a Successful Teen Band.”

August 31: Bayou Brothers, Open Road, Valley Winds and the Party in the Park with Safety Orange.

 

Dynamite Dave will also be in Old Town making his balloon creations. Every Friday night at Pennypickle’s Workshop/Temecula Children’s Museum, children and their parents can enjoy science adventures from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. For information visit www.pennypickles.org.
