Support a Nonprofit Mission to Empower Through Creativity

Nonprofit JDS Creative Academy (JDSCA) is dedicated to making the arts accessible for all. JDSCA is deep into its fundraising season, seeking community support for its ongoing mission of fostering the arts, creativity, inclusivity, and creative career development. Currently, the organization has two active GoFundMe campaigns. JDSCA strives to expand its outreach and ensure the arts remain accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or financial limitations. Help the nonprofit positively impact the lives of aspiring artists, performers, and creatives across the region, from mainstream to neurodivergent populations.

One of the key initiatives is the “Breaking the Employment Barrier” program. This project strives to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) transition from paid internships to permanent employment. While JDSCA’s Title-17 Job Training program equips participants with valuable soft and technical skills, many face challenges securing permanent roles. Businesses often have job creation budgetary restraints that prevent employers from transitioning internships into permanent employment opportunities, regardless of the participant’s value and talent. Through Breaking the Employment Barrier, JDSCA seeks to cover the first year of payroll costs, encouraging businesses to hire these talented individuals by easing them into the financial commitment of a new position and or a new employee.  With these funds, this underrepresented population will secure careers in their chosen fields and thrive in the community.

The second fundraiser continues JDSCA’s broader mission of making the arts accessible to all. Since founders Diane and Scott Strand launched the nonprofit in 2014, it has become a staple to the region’s arts community. The organization offers an array of creative programs ranging from acting, musical theater, backstage production, fashion design, filmmaking, and scriptwriting. By providing scholarships, JDSCA helps students pursue their artistic dreams without worrying about personal/family financial barriers. JDSCA’s diverse programs have empowered people of all ages and abilities, creating a safe and supportive environment where creativity thrives. This fundraiser seeks additional funding for the nonprofit’s scholarship fund, ensuring more students have access to the inclusive and nurturing learning environment that JDSCA provides.

Giving Tuesday is right around the corner on December 3rd. With this in mind, consider donating to one or both of JDSCA’s fundraisers. Your support can help transition IDD participants into meaningful employment, provide scholarships for aspiring artists, and ensure creativity continues to flourish throughout the community. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to spreading the Arts Across America!
