We each get up every day and make major and minor life choices. They could be small as what to wear to how to handle a client at work. With all these decisions, many of us do not pay attention to the most important choice, our own health.
While I am not a doctor, I cannot say it enough, it is imperative that we all consider our own health within every choice we make. This can be from what we eat to how much physical activity we conduct. This impacts you both in the short and long term. I have a friend whose spouse has gotten asthma and is sick at least 4 to 5 times a year because of the spouse’s lifestyle choices. My friend regularly exercises and hardly ever gets sick. A common excuse with the spouse is the work schedule. With two kids and years of memories ahead, I do not see how three times a week of exercise to avoid being bedridden several times a year and possibly being able to eliminate the adult induced asthma would not be the best choice.
Being healthy and taking care of yourself should never be a sacrifice. It should never be a choice. It should be mandatory. If you are worried about your work, think about if they will care if you die a five years earlier because you sacrificed your body. If you want to spend more time with your kids now, ask yourself, would they want you to be there an extra 3 hours a week now or an extra 5 to 10 years of their lives.
If you aren’t taking care of yourself, sit down and make some small adjustments. These changes can allow you to get in at least three days of physical activity and a healthier diet. Do not wait till New Years or make it solely about weight. Make the changes because you care about yourself and want to make a promise to your family that you want to be around for years to come.
