Pain is Temporary – Pride is Forever

Life is often filled with challenges and obstacles. Many of these cause us physical or at least emotional pain. This anguish can often lead us to avoid the difficulties that lie ahead. However, avoidance can often delay the inevitable. It can magnify the challenge.

As we go through life, this pain can lead to pride. This is the great feeling from having overcome the challenge. This is the heartfelt emotion felt from accomplishing something worthwhile. This is the feeling of success.

We should always seek success and victory. However, we have to remember that the pride of victory doesn’t exist without some pain. Very few wonderful things in life come without some pain and difficulty. Facing these challenges head on allows us to bask in the victories. It allows us to relish the pride of success.

One of the continuing challenges many of us face is being overweight. Working out and going on a diet can be extremely painful. Not getting the joys of those little sweets or midnight snacks causes many people pain and emotion. Thus, starting on a diet or weight loss regiment can be very difficult. We cannot see the long road ahead and do not want to face the pain ahead. However, every person who starts down the road and reaches the end, feels the joy and pride of having accomplished their goal.

This same feeling can be felt with any other challenge or obstacle. You might feel some pain at first but look at the end result. Think of the pride you’ll feel when you’ve beaten the odds and gone through the pain. The goal should be what you look at as you go through the obstacles in life.
