On Thanksgiving weekend welcome Santa Claus with the heart and soul of a local tradition on Friday, November 29 at 6 p.m. Old Town Temecula pours on the holiday glow like a Norman Rockwell painting during Winterfest with 30,000 twinkling lights illuminating the historic shopping district from archway to archway, stores decked out with seasonal displays and that warm small town charm. Santa Claus arrives in picturesque fashion aboard a horse drawn carriage that trots up Old Town Front Street to his Workshop on Main Street. Santa will listen to children’s holiday wishes until 9 p.m. opening night.
Kids can visit with Santa every Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. through December 21st. Reindeer Antlers and Magic Glasses will be given to kids visiting Santa and are sponsored by the local merchants. The Tahquitz District Boy Scouts will take souvenir photos for a donation and help Santa in his workshop.
This is also the grand opening of Old Town’s seasonal ice rink – “Temecula On Ice” at Town Square. The 3,500 square foot ice rink has hourly sessions and group programs. Check the website www.temeculaevents.org for times, prices and more information. It is open daily through January 5th.
This is a family friendly event with a party jump, Dynamite Dave, face painting, family games, and a magician. Usher in the New Year as a giant illuminated bunch of grapes descends from city hall with an East Coast (9 p.m.) and midnight countdown. All activities at Temecula Town Square are free except the ice rink which will remain open until 1:30 a.m. New Year’s Day.
