Boys and Girls Club Set to Launch 6th Annual Idol Competition

The Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Riverside County is announcing its sixth annual Idol singing competition with auditions set to kick off in May.

The competition, which features youths ranging from ages 6 to 18, is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Old Town Temecula and has seen participation increase every year. In 2013, over 250 kids auditioned within three age groups, with the winners being crowned in front of a live audience at the Old Town Temecula Theater last September.

This year’s event will also have three age divisions: 6-9, 10-13, and 14-18. “The talent we see in these kids is just amazing,” remarked event chairman Steve Amante, “and it’s great to see the community beginning to recognize and support this event as well.”

Four open auditions are scheduled for each age group beginning on May 9, 2014. Exact dates, times, and locations can be found on the official event website, www.bgcidol.com, where contestants can also pre-register for auditions. Semi-finals are scheduled for July 12 at the Temecula CRC Amphitheater and the finals, where the top five from each age group will be performing with live accompaniment, will once again be held at the Temecula Old Town Theater the afternoon of August 31st.

Additional questions can be directed to Beth Soltysiak at the Old Town Boys and Girls Clubhouse, 951-699-1526 or email beths@bgcswc.org.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Riverside County.
