The 2016 Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival winning poster design was recently released. Created by Temecula artist and gallery owner, Heather Pilapil, the piece represents all of the assets of the annual Festival – hot air balloons, wine, food and Lake Skinner.
“The design was based upon the requirements and guidelines that the Festival committee established,” stated Pilapil. She created the 18″X24″ piece in watercolor on watercolor paper. It is her third winning design for the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival. Her previous winning designs were created in 2009 and 2013. A video of the artist in the poster creation process can be viewed at: https://youtu.be/L3mrpL0Ec1o.
Pilapil and her family moved to Temecula in the summer of 1996. She graduated from Temecula Valley High School in 2002. She then attended the College of Art and Design in Laguna Beach where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor degree in drawing and painting. A mother of two, Pilapil’s art gallery in Temecula exhibits and sells local artists’ work. Pilapil is also a tattoo artist.
The posters are currently for sale at the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival office. The cost is $7 each. A limited edition of 60 posters are printed on archival paper and signed by the artist. The limited editions sell for $25.
