South Pacific Comes to Temecula

Join the Temecula Valley Players on an enchanted island in the South Pacific and enjoy the memorable music of Rodgers & Hammerstein with tunes like “Bali Hai”, “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair” and “Some Enchanted Evening”.

Set on an island paradise during World War II, two parallel love stories are threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war. American nurse, Nellie falls in love with a middle-aged expatriate French plantation owner, Emile, but struggles to accept his mixed-race children.

A secondary romance, between a U.S. lieutenant and a young Tonkinese woman explores his fears of the social consequences should he marry his Asian sweetheart. Nellie realizes that life is too short not to seize her own chance for happiness thus confronting her own fears and prejudices.

The play will feature the period costumes and classic set design that audiences have come to expect from the Temecula Valley Players. Providing professional quality productions to the Valley for over 30 years, TVP draws from a large pool of very talented local performers including singers, dancers and actors from 7 to 70 for this play. Directed by John Clark with Musical Direction by Karin Gittens and Choreography by Sean Kiralla, the production promises a delight for the senses.
