Building a Stronger Economic Future Through Menifee’s Local Workforce

In many growing Southern California communities, a long daily commute is often viewed as a tradeoff for more space and a higher quality of life. In Menifee, where approximately 90% of working residents currently travel outside the city for employment, a purposeful shift is underway. The City of Menifee is focused on creating an economy where residents have greater access to high-wage, high-skilled careers closer to home. Through workforce development, career pipelines, business attraction, and support for existing businesses, Menifee is laying the foundation for a more diverse and resilient economy.

The City has identified targeted industries, including healthcare, information technology, and advanced manufacturing, that can provide career opportunities for residents while strengthening the local economy. Attracting new employers, however, is only part of the equation. Supporting businesses already operating in Menifee is equally important. With up to 80% of new employment stemming from existing business expansion, helping local companies grow and create additional jobs remains a key focus.

A strong local workforce is also critical when large employers evaluate where to invest. Menifee is building that talent pipeline through partnerships with local schools and higher education institutions. Menifee students are being introduced to technology, hands-on technical learning, and industry-focused makerspaces, while Mt. San Jacinto College partners with the City to explore specialized curricula and certification programs aligned with the needs of growing industries.

Major employers are taking notice and planting roots throughout Menifee. Kaiser Permanente is currently under construction along Encanto Road and is adding 150 employees to its upcoming facility. Neighborhood Healthcare has been recently approved and plans to open a new location that will triple its local workforce. The new Boulders professional office building is also bringing four medical businesses and approximately 130 professional jobs to the community.

Menifee’s business park sector is also expanding with quality employers. Southwest Traders is currently constructing a new facility that is expected to add approximately 250 jobs, with plans to double its workforce in the next two years. Additionally, the company is bringing its “Shifting Gears” upskilling initiative to Menifee, in which the employer up-scales their workforce by through training and advancement within the company.

Retail growth is also creating additional opportunities, with a fourth Stater Bros. Market preparing to open and bring approximately 80 new jobs to the community creating opportunities for young people entering the workforce.

These investments represent more than new buildings and businesses. They represent opportunities for Menifee residents to work closer to home, develop new skills, build careers, and contribute to the community where they live.

By bringing together education, infrastructure, business support, and targeted industry recruitment, Menifee is taking a deliberate approach to job creation. The goal is not simply to create more jobs, but to create meaningful career opportunities and build an economy that works for residents today while preparing Menifee for tomorrow.
