Youth Engaged in Serving Seniors

Bringing the youth and senior community together proved to be just one way the Rotary Club of Temecula is making a difference in Temecula and surrounding areas. The Interact Clubs in Temecula and Murrieta and Boy Scout Pack 301 rose early one Saturday to help Senior citizens who were in need. Many of our Senior citizens in the South Riverside area have fixed and limited incomes. In addition, many have health issues making it difficult for them to accomplish simple things such as changing a light bulb or weeding the yard.

The Rotary Club of Temecula’s Senior Outreach Committee reached out to their sponsored high school Interact clubs (a junior Rotary program) and local Boy Scouts of America Pack 301 and invited them to participate in our Senior Service days and they said YES!!! The youth community along with our aging population have a chance to get to know one another. It provides an opportunity for local youth to learn more about the senior population, learn the value and reward of service, and help someone in need.

Youth Engaged in Serving Seniors (YESS) is always on a Saturday morning and coordinated by the Senior Outreach Committee of the Rotary Club of Temecula. Projects are scheduled from August 2017- May 2018 and are funded by the Rotary Club of Temecula’s only major fundraiser “Taste of the World” and through Grants from Rotary International. To learn more about the Rotary Club of Temecula’s Taste of the World fundraiser and how you can help support the efforts of bridging our community’s youth and seniors visit www.rotarycluboftemecula.com.

The Rotary Club of Temecula meets every Wednesday 12:00pm at the Claim Jumper Restaurant, 29540 Rancho California in Temecula, and we invite you to visit to learn more about our local projects that are making a difference in our community. Come be a part of the effort and enjoy a free lunch on us!
