Summertime and Sprinklers- EVMWD’s Irrigation tips

With warm summer temperatures, it’s a great time to check that your irrigation system performing as efficiently as it should! It is important to routinely check sprinkler heads, pipes and drip systems for breaks and leaks to avoid water waste and ensure a healthy landscape.

HERE’S HOW:

Start by turning on the system to make sure the landscape is getting watered appropriately. Adjust so the roots of plants are getting watered, not walkways or other hard surfaces.

Tighten any loose nozzles and replace broken or leaking parts. Lastly, check your irrigation timer. Set it to run between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. to avoid evaporation. Watering deeply and less frequently will help build a healthier landscape.
