EVMWD selects seasoned industry leader for the management role. Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) named Brian Macy, P.E., seasoned water and engineering industry leader, as the assistant general manager, engineering and operations.
In this role, Macy will support General Manager John D. Vega through carrying out board directives, assuring compliance with EVMWD policies, as well as overseeing many projects, and developing and implementing EVMWD’s strategic plan. He will directly oversee EVMWD’s water resources, engineering and operations departments.
“With his more than 20 years of experience leading in the civil and water resources engineering industry, I look forward to Brian spearheading our many high-profile district projects,” said John D. Vega, general manager for Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District. “As a proven leader, his guidance and innovative approach will benefit our customers and the EVMWD team.”
Prior to joining EVMWD, Macy served as General Manager of the Indio Water Authority, the water utility for Coachella Valley’s largest city, for five years. In this role, he reported to the City Manager/Executive Director and the Board of Directors while leading IWA’s 47-person workforce, overseeing a $20 million operating budget, and managing policies, operations and strategic initiatives. During his tenure, Macy led a transformational shift in making the organization more customer-centric by implementing innovative projects and systems to better serve ratepayers and save money, including a budget-tiered rate structure, conservation programs, advanced metering infrastructure, recycled water development, chromium-6 compliance and a web portal for payments and information.

Macy serves as a board member of the California Utility Executive Management Association. He has over 20 years of experience in civil and water resources engineering and water utility management. He is a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California and received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio Northern University.
EVMWD provides service to more than 144,000 water and wastewater customers in a 97-square mile service area in Western Riverside County. The District is a sub-agency of the Western Municipal Water District and a member agency of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
