Free virtual event showcases conservation, water treatment, jobs in the water industry and more through live and interactive demonstrations
Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District’s virtual open house event, Flow into Fall, will take place Saturday, September 25th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This FREE family-friendly online event will showcase four live workshops focusing on California friendly landscaping, things that go bump in the sewer, landing a water job and a special interactive class for kids.
Through the unique online platform, visitors can take part in a virtual 360 tour of EVMWD’s California-friendly garden and explore the many local options of plants available. Landscape experts from the UCCE Riverside County Master Gardeners will be available LIVE to answer questions about California-friendly plants and gardening.
Attendees will, also, hear anecdotes about a variety of interesting items that have come through EVMWD’s Wastewater treatment plant from our operators in our session, “Things that go bump in the sewer.”
Participants looking for a career in water will hear firsthand from EVMWD’s human resources department in a session titled “You, Too, Can Have a Career in Water”. Members of the HR team will give insight on jobs in the industry and provide tips on interviewing for positions.
Kids will have their own engaging session, titled “What’s in Our Water”, hosted by Discovery Cube Science Museum. The session will focus on types of pollutants that end up in our water supply and the innovative methods EVMWD uses to remove these pollutants from our drinking water.
To encourage conservation practice, EVMWD will also distribute water saving devices to participants following the event through contactless pickup. Boy and Girl Scouts are also encouraged to attend virtually and complete a special worksheet to receive the “H2O Explorer” badge.
