Do you know what goes bump in the night besides Halloween? The JDS Creative Academy Haunted Studio fundraiser!! Gather your ghost and ghoul friends and get ready for some haunting details about nonprofit JDS Creative Academy’s upcoming Haunted Studio.
The JDSCA Haunted Studio, now in its 8th year, is a two-day haunted extravaganza where Temecula’s JDS Creative Academy transforms its studio into a spooky family-friendly haunted house, offering thrills, chills, and scares to raise money for visual performing and digital arts scholarships. The money raised goes to offset the many scholarships granted to students who take classes at the Creative Academy. JDS Creative Academy works with youth, teens, adults, mainstream and special needs populations, and at-risk foster youth. JDSCA’s Haunted Studio is open to the public and takes place October 27-28 from 6:30-9 pm.
The Haunted Studio starts as Design / Build / Haunt, a hands-on class production class that brings the Haunted Studio to life; students help with the design, build, and construction process of the spooky madness. The Design / Build / Haunt class begins Wednesday, September 27 at 5 pm and runs weekly, leading up to the event on October 27-28. This class encourages students to delve into their creative minds and ignite their spookiest ideas. Students will collaborate to choose the theme; past themes have included a Haunted Circus, a Haunted Museum, Haunted Television Shows, and Haunted Movies. Students will design sets and costumes based on the chosen theme, work with special effects artists to learn prosthetic makeup techniques and have fun with other classmates, creating the Haunted Studio of their nightmares. This course is perfect for all ages and for anyone interested in Halloween, haunted houses, scary makeup, costumes, and culture. Join in and be a part of the magic. Once the Design / Build / Haunt class concludes, the Haunted Studio fundraiser will commence. Think scary, think family-friendly and elaborate, think a total reconstruction of JDS Studio in the most fun way! Tickets to enter will be $5.00 and go directly to studio scholarships to spread the arts into the community. Additionally, guests can purchase delicious treats and Halloween-themed baked goods with all proceeds going to the nonprofit fundraiser. It is sure to be a fun event for the entire community.
