Let’s be honest, any school can provide the DMV-required six hours of training with a licensed instructor. The 50 hours with a parent or guardian? Also doable for most families. There are countless YouTube videos of the Temecula and Hemet DMV routes, giving teens and families all they need to pass the test.
What then?
Will teens have all the tools and wisdom they need to safely navigate from school, work, and activities to home, or will they push their boundaries and engage in risk-taking behaviors?
Sadly, many local families have experienced the latter, and the price has been far too high.
Teen Road to Safety Temecula is proud to announce partnerships with two local foundations that focus on teen driver safety, and we welcome the opportunity to connect with allies with a similar objective.
As featured in the Dr. Phill Show “Driving Under the Teen-fluence,” local mother Reina Jackson lost her son Ajanni to an accident born out of the alarmingly popular street racing culture. A respectful young man with good grades, Ajanni hid his secret high-risk lifestyle until it took his life. Ms. Jackson has since become an ordained Chaplain for the City of Menifee and formed The AJ Project to eradicate street racing in the Temecula Valley and surrounding areas. Another mother is rallying Menifee City government, law enforcement, fire, and community to honor her daughter’s life and bring awareness to teen driver safety. A remembrance walk in honor of Clarissa Lewis – who tragically passed away just shy of her 16th birthday in a single-vehicle collision involving a teen driver – is scheduled for December 9th at 3:30 pm. Unfortunately, these are just two stories out of many. Young people need mentorship, boundaries, and protection from others and from themselves.
