Get Ready for Networking in 2025

2025 on road

December is historically light on networking events because people tend to be otherwise focused on shopping for gifts (please shop local!), family gatherings and holiday festivities. However, it is a great time to gather your ideas and goals together for the next year so that you can hit January with your foot on the gas.

Networking can be a powerful way to build relationships, gain clients, and establish your presence in the community. Here are some ideas to get you rollin’ in 2025!

Take Advantage of Local Opportunities

Your local Chamber of Commerce likely hosts mixers and networking events, which are designed to connect local business owners together. Chambers typically offer other opportunities as well, such as becoming an ambassador and volunteering on specific committees. All of these are great ways to connect with other business owners and the community. Even if you are not a member of your local Chamber, contact them now to get on the invite list for the events they will be hosting in 2025. Sometimes, you can attend the events as a non-member and hopefully see the value in joining to really take advantage of all the opportunities.

Connect with Other Small Business Owners

Consider joining networking-specific groups or industry-specific groups. There are many networking groups throughout our valley; some of these groups have an open format, whereas some may only allow one business per industry and rely on member referrals. You can also find online groups through social media such as Facebook and LinkedIn.

Online Engagement

There are quite a few community groups on Facebook where people ask questions and may be searching for a particular service or product. Make sure you follow the guidelines of each group that you are in and be a good neighbor. Promote other businesses and be respectful with your posts. Position yourself as an expert in your field by providing valuable information and tips related to your industry.

Non-Profits and Service Clubs

There are many non-profits and service clubs in our valley and while membership in a service organization such as Rotary Club should not be used specifically for networking, you will meet like-minded people and form relationships. Becoming part of a solutions-based organization that helps the community is a great way to get involved and forge new personal and business partnerships.

Networking Tips

Build genuine relationships by listening to and understanding others’ needs instead of just pitching your services. Seek out ways to connect others to their ideal client and always pay it forward. By becoming a valuable resource in your community, people will begin to be naturally drawn to you and your business.

Don’t forget to follow up after meeting someone with a personal note or email. Send them any information they may have requested in a timely manner.

Have a happy holiday season and I look forward to networking with you in 2025!
