With the Jewish New Year, a New Home for Temple Beth Sholum

After 46 years of serving the community of Sun City, Temple Beth Sholom has relocated to Temecula to better serve the Jewish and Jewish-interfaith needs of the extended Temecula Valley.

Formerly located in the heart of Sun City, Temple Beth Sholom’s membership once exceeded 200 people. But as the membership aged, the congregation could not remain self-sustaining. In 2012, the synagogue building was sold and for 10 months the congregation worshiped in the chapel of the Cherry Hills Club. In early 2013, it moved to its current location in leased space in the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce Building in south Temecula.

The original goal of the congregation was to foster traditional Jewish values and encourage participatory religious observance. Today, they continue to maintain those values, but have broadened their perspective by becoming an inclusive, egalitarian congregation who remains traditional but with a modern twist. As members of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the clergy and board of directors welcome all Jewish people and embrace Jewish interfaith couples and families who wish to learn how to create a Jewish home, raise Jewish children and join the Jewish community to make the world a better place!

At sundown, September 4th, Jews around the world will begin the observance of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. This is the time for reflection and prayer, and a time to look to the future with hope. Student Rabbi Sandy Rosenstein, Cantor Jeff Schwimmer, the board of directors and the entire congregation of Temple Beth Sholom invite all Jewish and Jewish-Interfaith families to join them for services for the High Holidays as well as Shabbat services on Friday nights at 7:30pm followed by an Oneg Shabbat and Saturday mornings at 10:00am followed by a light Kiddish lunch.
