The Boy Scouts of America Tahquitz District will honor Dr. Larry Boggeln, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Temecula Valley Hospital, with the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award, Thursday, September 26 at Pechanga Resort and Casino.
Dr. Boggeln is being honored for his contributions to the community through his volunteer work, continual work with the Boy Scouts of America and contributions of time and expertise with hospice and health care in the valley. He serves as Medical Director of Health Essentials Hospice, and Chairman of the Ethics Committees of both Southwest Healthcare System and of Loma Linda University Medical Center in Murrieta. He volunteers as a teacher in the religious education program at St. Martha Catholic Church in Murrieta, and as a leader in scouting programs in Temecula.
The Distinguished Citizen Award is presented to individuals whose personal ethics and family values are representative of the Scout Oath and Law. Past recipients of the award include President Gerald Ford, Governor George Deukmejian, Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne. The Tahquitz District has honored Dan Stephenson, Jerry Wilson, Bill Green, 3rd District Supervisor Jeff Stone, Christine and John McCusker, Dan Atwood, Pastor Steve Struikmans, Terry Gilmore, and Joan Sparkman in the past.
The Distinguished Citizen Dinner begins at 6 p.m. with a reception and silent auction. Dinner and award presentation follows at 7 p.m. Tickets are $125 per person and available by calling Tina Roy, BSA District Director at (951) 972-2201.
