Following a national recruitment with over 275 applications, City of Temecula City Manager Aaron Adams appointed Temecula Public Works Director Greg Butler to the Assistant City Manager position. Butler began his new assignment on Monday, August 26.
As Assistant City Manager, Butler will provide support to the City Manager and City Council as well as provide general oversight of the Public Works, Community Development, Human Resources, and Information Technology Departments; and the Risk and Emergency Management functions.
Butler has over 21 years of public service experience, including 14 years serving the City of Temecula, the past four of which he has served as the Public Works Director/City Engineer. Butler possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University, and is a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer. Additionally, he has had involvement with many Citywide endeavors including managing major capital projects, serving on the Labor Negotiations Team, navigating budgetary constraints during challenging economic times, and City revitalization and development. Butler has served as an asset to the Citizens, the business community, and the organization, and will continue to do so in his new role.

The Assistant City Manager position offers health, dental, vision and life insurance benefits afforded to all other city employees, and an annual salary range of $137,881 to $194,153.
The City anticipates initiating a recruitment for a successor Public Works Director/City Engineer in the coming weeks.
