Following a three-month, national recruitment, the City of Temecula has selected Armando G. Villa to fill the Community Development Director position. Villa will fill the vacancy resulting from former Community Development Director Patrick Richardson’s departure, who retired on December 19th. Villa began his new assignment on January 6th, and will be responsible for overseeing a department with several divisions including Planning, Code Enforcement, and Building and Safety.
Villa has private sector experience working for a national home builder, and over 20 years of public service experience, most recently serving as the Director of Development Services/Director of Parks and Recreation for the County of Imperial in Southern California. Villa possesses a Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning from Cal Poly Pomona, and a Master of Public Administration from Cal State San Bernardino.
Villa is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) as well as the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP). Additionally, he has played a significant role in many major projects for the County of Imperial, City of Calexico, and City of Lake Elsinore, which have provided him with the hands-on experience to maintain and enhance the services the Temecula community has grown to enjoy.
