Eastern Municipal Water District Board President Philip E. Paule was unanimously selected to serve on the Executive Committee for CalDesal, it was announced last week.
CalDesal is a leading advocacy group that is dedicated to the advancement of ocean and groundwater desalination and salinity management throughout California.
“As we are faced with uncertainty surrounding our water supply, it is important that we embrace the technologies that are both local and sustainable, such as desalination,” Paule said. “It’s an honor to be appointed to the Committee and join a group of individuals that are committed to ensuring a better water supply future for our state.”
EMWD has invested heavily in groundwater desalination, which accounts for six percent of its potable water supply. EMWD has two state-of-the-art desalters and has 11 active brackish groundwater wells, with a 12th currently under construction.
