Rotary Club of Temecula Announces Grants

Due to the tremendous support of the Temecula Rotary’s annual fundraising event, ‘Taste of the World’ held last spring at the South Coast Winery & Resort, the club’s Board of Directors was able to fund $10,000 in new community support projects.

  • A $3,000 Grant to the Temecula Valley Unified School District for middle and high school teachers in the Arts and Sciences was approved. Teachers will be able to apply for small grants, from $100-$500 to support their classes in ways that are not currently covered by district funds (i.e. field trips, school play materials, science lab supplies).

  • A $3,000 Grant was approved for the Temecula Elementary School, a Title I School for low income and underachieving students. The grant will be used to purchase almost 300 educational books for 1st through 3rd graders. These books serve to increase the students reading skills and to provide knowledge relative to current in school education.
  • A $2,500 Grant was approved for ‘Santa for Seniors’. This program will identify local seniors in need and seek “wish lists” from them before the holidays. Through collaboration with our Interact Clubs, two teens and one Rotarian will deliver the gifts and spend time with the seniors.

  • A $650 Grant will offer two additional students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Award camp. This program, known as RYLA, sends high school juniors from our local schools to a weekend leadership camp. This increase will allow our club to sponsor 20 local high school students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards weekends.
  • A $500 Grant will establish a Rotary EarlyAct™ Club at Temecula Elementary School. EarlyAct is a school-wide service club for elementary students from ages 5 to 13. EarlyAct engages students in character-building activities and prepares them for leadership roles. This grant will also establish an Interact Club at Rancho Christian High School, the club’s 4th Interact Club.

  • A $350 Grant will be offered to Jacob’s House. Jacob’s House in Temecula is a home of refuge for families and loved ones of those in the hospital in traumatic medical need can find hope, comfort, peace and inspiration.

It is a great thrill for the club to be able to increase the amount of community outreach it provides in both economic support and equally hands on efforts. Next year’s ‘Taste of the World’ is scheduled for Friday, March 20th. Sponsorships and tickets are available through. http://tow.temecularotary.net/sponsorships-for-2015.

The Rotary Club of Temecula would love to have you visit one of their meetings the meet each Wednesday at noon at Claim Jumper Restaurant which is located on the corner of Rancho California and Ynez Roads.
