7th Grade Science Teacher Recognized For Inspiring Students

Day after day, teachers give their all to teach and inspire students. Teachers shape our children’s thinking and provide them with the skill set and knowledge base needed for future academic and career success.

To shine a light on their good work, KATY-FM 101.3 The Mix and Azusa Pacific University (APU) are proud to kick off the 2014-2015 ‘Teachers Are Heroes’ awards program to honor teachers. Once a month, ‘Teachers Are Heroes’ will recognize a teacher for their outstanding contribution to their students and profession which often go unnoticed.

On September 25th, KATY The Mix and APU presented Mrs. Terra Mahnke-Antista, 7th grade science teacher at Warm Springs Middle School in Murrieta with the September Teachers Are Heroes award. Mahnke-Antista was truly surprised, appreciative, and humbled as she received this honor.

Ms. Rachel Alvarezroman nominated Mahnke-Antista, and said, “She inspires the kids to want to learn and explore. She gets the kids excited about coming to class.” Mahnke-Antista’s students think very highly of her and were excited to see her recognized for being such an exceptional teacher.

Each honoree will receive great prizes from KATY–FM and a classroom pizza party from The Pizza Factory in Temecula. All selected teachers and their classes will attend a private celebration at the end of the year at Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium.

Nominations are now being accepted for teachers who go “Above and Beyond” what is expected of them. Teachers can be nominated by students, parents, and even other school administrators. Nominations for the 2014-2015 “Teachers Are Heroes” promotion are currently being taken until the last week of April 2015.
