Happy New Year everybody! Have you made any resolutions to take on this year? Here are 5 of the most popular ones:
- Lose Weight
- Get Organized
- Spend Less
- Enjoy Life to the Fullest
- Staying Fit and Healthy
While 45% will make resolutions, only 8% will actually succeed. That statistic is discouraging, but don’t feel too bad because we do this with good intent. The good news is people who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t make them. Want to be part of that 8%, or make that percentage go higher?
Make your goals realistic. If you want to lose 30 lbs, make your goal 3-5lbs and achieve that goal first. Organizing? Start with 1 drawer, not the entire house or garage. Enjoy life? Plan an overnight weekend, or get tickets to a concert or play. Spend less? Just don’t buy that one extra item, pack a lunch a few days a week. Staying healthy and fit? Drink a shake or go on a 15 minute walk every other day.
Bottom line is, make your resolutions attainable and start your New Year off with success. Make a resolution you can live with so you are empowered instead of feeling like a failure. Make a “To Do List” and start checking off your list!
My resolution is to unplug and be “present” more. If any of you picked this one, here are my cyber baby steps. I am going to leaving my phone in the car while I’m at the gym and not answer phone calls while enjoying breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s sad when you walk into a restaurant and every family member is on their phones instead of engaging in conversations with their dates or children. I want to scream….am I alone on this one? I know I am guilty of doing this too, but it is now one of my resolutions, so please wish me luck. I bid you all the same!
