About a year ago, the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce embarked on a new journey they refer to as “Walkabouts.” Now, some of you might remember “walkabouts” from the Crocodile Dundee movie back in 1986, where Mick Dundee set out to “walkabout” the USA in the tradition of the aboriginal tribes from Australia. Well, that is not exactly what the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce had in mind when starting this, it was more of an out-reach from the chamber to the business community of Murrieta to let them know who the chamber is and how they might be able to assist their business.
The “Walkabouts” consisted of teams of two volunteers with the organization, covering different business areas in the Murrieta Valley. Each team would hand out information regarding the chamber and ask if there was anything that they needed for their business. Each volunteer would also introduce themselves and the business that they represented as a Member of the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce. The “Walkabouts” were very well received by those visited, whether they were a chamber member or not.
On September 26th, the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce will be starting up their “Walkabouts” again and are encouraging all members to attend and be a participant for this great outreach opportunity. Members will be paired up with someone who has been out on a walkabout before. The meeting place for this adventure will be at Global Health Insurance at 205136 Hancock Ave, Ste D, in Murrieta beginning at 10:00am. If you can’t make it for this “Walkabout” you can look at joining a future “Walkabout” on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
