Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club recently celebrated its 25th anniversary of chartering with a luncheon at Journey’s End at Pechanga. Out of 25 presidents, 16 were there (including 2011-2012 President Jimmy Hsieh).
Charlie Nicholls (1993-94), Pat Novotney (1994-95), Joan Sparkman (1995-96), Brian McNamara (1996-97), Marti Treckman (1997-98), and Al Rubio (1998-99) were all present and shared their favorite memories in Rotary.
Temecula Sunrise Rotary was sponsored by the Rancho Temecula Rotary Club, now known at Temecula Noon Rotary Club. This year several other momentous anniversaries were celebrated, including the 25th annual running of the 5K-10K Run through the Vineyards and the 10th annual Safety Town.
In the 25 years of its existence the club has had many programs benefitting the City of Temecula, Rotary District 5330 in Riverside and San Bernardino, and the world. The club has given out more than $250,000 in scholarships to local students, conducts a literacy program for 3rd grade students at two Title I elementary schools, sends many local 7th grade and 11th grade students to Rotary Leadership Camp (PRYDE and RYLA), sponsors the Interact service club at Chaparral High School, and has sponsored many high school musicians in the Rotary District 5330 Music Competition. In addition, the club has entered a number of winning high school speakers in the Rotary Four-Way Test speech competition. And, with the support of the City of Temecula and the Temecula Noon Rotary Club, Temecula Sunrise Rotary built Rotary Park located next to the Boys & Girls Club in Old Town Temecula.
Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at 7AM at Journey’s End at Pechanga and welcomes guests and new members. For more information about the club or to make a reservation, call 951-698-6116.
