JDS Creative Academy collaborated with JDS Actors Studio and spring session ended with a “BANG,” as students performed two one act plays: a murder mystery and a ghost story, as well as, a whimsical musical vignette by the Musical Theater Show Choir Class. All performances were accompanied by costumes, sets, props, and lighting from the JDSCA Backstage Class, where students learned to paint on large backdrops, create wood out of fabric, and make a piggy bank out of a frog.
Are you looking for a two-week distraction for your school age kids this summer? JDSCA offers a fabulous and unusual camp experience that will influence your children’s view about the performing arts for the rest of their lives. The “Summer Boot Camp” runs Monday thru Friday from June 13th – 24th where students are introduced to a fast paced program of script writing, set design, acting, Improv and live performance. During the camp, the instructors assist the students in adapting an age-old fairy tale to modern times, by using today’s language all while maintaining the integrity of the original story. The students are coached through the process, where they write the play as a group, and then put on the stage performance for parents and friends.
JDSCA’s upcoming fall programs start the week of August 29th. A new Video Production class will have students composing, directing, and producing a daily news program simulation. Backstage Production Classes will provide visual support, props, costumes, and make-up for the TV Show. Other classes at JDSCA include Musical Theater Show Choir, Stage Combat, Script Writing, Fine Art, and Fashion Design. All of JDSCA’s teachers are professionals in their field.
