Southern California Auctioneer Competes in International Auctioneer Championship

Southern California auction professional recently took part in the 2016 National Auctioneers Association International Auctioneer Championship, competing in a field of some of the best auctioneers in the world.

Joining nearly 100 fellow auction professionals from across the world on July 22nd in Grand Rapids Michigan at the 67th International Auctioneers Conference and Show, Diess competed for the right to be called NAA IAC Champion. The male and female winners of this competition are regarded by the auction industry as being one of the world’s best in the profession.

IAC competitors are judged on their presentation, chant, voice timbre, body language, and other performance elements of effective auctioneering. Participants are also judged on their answers of interview questions. The revered competition was held in a single day, in front of approximately 1,100 live attendees and many more enthusiasts online.

“I’m eager to compete in 2017’s contest in Ohio with big plans to bring the IAC championship to California for the first time in history. There’s no competition in the auction industry like NAA IAC,” Diess said. “I learned so much from competing with my peers, and I can’t wait to bring that experience back for my clients.”

Diess believes an auctioneer for a benefit event should expand beyond the live auction sale itself and become another voice and face for the nonprofit’s mission. As charities throughout the Southern California region compete for charitable resources. Diess offers a multi-faceted ambassador approach to strengthen relationships with current donors and attract the new supporters necessary to continually fund programs”
