Exciting news … the Murrieta location of Azusa Pacific University (APU) will soon be enrolling students in an evening undergraduate psychology degree program. This degree program is especially designed to equip students to understand human behavior. The degree provides a solid foundation in the science of psychology.
APU Psychology majors take courses that apply psychology to meeting human needs in workplace and/or internship settings. Students learn how to scientifically analyze human behavior and interactions in a variety of real-world contexts. For students who wish to pursue a graduate or doctoral degree, this program teaches the skills and discipline needed to do so. Additionally, the APU Psychology major curriculum is fully aligned with the American Psychological Association’s guidelines for undergraduate education in Psychology. Psychology majors leave APU prepared to explore and influence human behavior in a variety of career settings.
Rob Linsalato, Program Director of the Murrieta Psychology program, noted that “Azusa Pacific University is looking forward to the opportunity to serve students in the Murrieta area. Our Department of Psychology will allow students at Mt. San Jacinto College and neighboring community colleges to enroll and work concurrently towards their bachelor’s degree. With classes offered in the late afternoon and evening our curriculum is a user friendly educational program for working adults and community college students. Course offerings include popular classes in abnormal psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, family psychology, and multicultural psychology.”
Having served as an administrator and instructor in higher education for more than 15 years, Mr. Linsalato’s academic and administrative skills are a great fit for launching the psychology program at the APU Murrieta Campus. Additionally, he lives in Temecula and understands the opportunities and challenges that our area affords.
APU Psychology major graduates are finding careers in the areas of business, rehabilitation centers and hospitals, the military and investigative roles. Research is showing that the interconnected nature of today’s workplace is affording increased career opportunities for psychology graduates.
