We are excited to announce the establishment of an environmental sciences scholarship program for graduating seniors. Founded in 2003, the Foundation has grown from funding a program for 3rd graders to our current nature education programs for elementary, middle and high school students. The scholarship program is a logical extension of our programs and the objective to inspire environmental stewardship in our young citizens.
Funded by private donations, this inaugural program will offer at least three $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in Murrieta. The only criteria is that the student plans to pursue a field of study and career in the environmental sciences. While not a requirement, preference will be given to a student who has participated in one of the Foundation’s Habitat Studies and Restoration Programs at Vista Murrieta, Murrieta Mesa and Murrieta Valley High schools.
Scholarships will be awarded at a public presentation on April 25th and administered by Murrieta Dollars for Scholars, a chapter of Scholarship America, and a nationally recognized non-profit dedicated to mobilizing support for students getting into and graduating from college.
