Andrew Fox Receives “Teachers are Heroes” Award

Outstanding teachers are our heroes! Mr. Andrew Fox, 5th grade teacher at Ysabel Barnett Elementary School in Temecula, is among one of the dedicated teachers who make learning fun. On Tuesday, May 3rd, representatives from Azusa Pacific University (APU) and KATY 101.3 The Mix, honored the final recipient for the 2015-2016 Teachers Are Heroes program. Mr. Fox was presented with the Teachers are Heroes April Award along with some nice prizes. The Ysabel Barnett Elementary School Principal, Dr. Amber Lane, and Fox’s students were part of the celebration. The award presentation concluded with a pizza party from The Pizza Factory in Temecula.

Fox was nominated by one of his students who said about him, “He makes class fun and makes us laugh. He pushes every student to become the best they can be in every subject. He makes sure the boys don’t stink after recess and lunch and will give us deodorant!”

Fox has been teaching at the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) for 13 years. During this time he has taught 5th grade at Ysabel Barnett Elementary School for 12 years and taught at a TVUSD middle school for one year. In addition to teaching, Fox also oversees the elementary school’s intramural basketball program.
