For the past seven years, Valley Young Professionals has annually given two deserving youth living at Oak Grove Center for Treatment, Education, and the Arts a room makeover.
The Oak Grove Center mainly helps youth in behavioral therapy; many of the youth have behavioral issues that need extra attention. Currently, Oak Grove has over fifty kids living on campus; about 80% capacity, and some are considered to be at-risk youth. The Center relies on fundraising, volunteers, and community support to help the kids feel loved and cared for.
Funds are prioritized by necessity meaning room makeovers are near the bottom of the list. Valley Young Professionals know it is important for children to feel cared for and be given extra attention. This year, Carrington Construction repainted the bedroom, closets, and bathroom. The professional quality was apparent and Carrington Construction was happy to donate time to give back to the community.
On Saturday morning, a handful of VYP members volunteered to decorate; hanging pictures, putting up the shower curtains and closet curtains, making the beds, etc. Everything used to complete this amazing project was donated or purchased after fundraising efforts. When the teenage boys entered their brand new bedroom they were ecstatic and so grateful. VYP feels it is extremely important to give back to the community and understand the different needs in the area.
