There’s a big difference between being a happy, joyful person and experiencing temporary pleasure. Buying an expensive car to impress your neighbors might bring a short-term burst of gratification, but happiness is a long-term part of your overall wellness.
It’s important to realize that happiness doesn’t mean a life without problems. Even happy people have problems as well as many ups and downs. The critical difference is that happy people focus on the ups and don’t obsess on the negatives. We believe our philosophy of wellness provides an inner freedom and tranquility, and is a way of life whose purpose is to lighten our hearts. We believe a happy life and a virtuous life are synonymous. Happiness and personal fulfillment are the natural consequences of doing the right thing. We emphasize three main things: mastering our desires, performing our duties and learning to think clearly about our self and our relations within the larger community of humanity.
We always have a choice about the contents and character of our inner lives. Things outside our control include how we are regarded by others and our status in society. Trying to control or to change what we can’t only results in torment. Be clear what belongs to others is their business and none of ours. If something is outside our control, train yourself not to worry about.
Meditation involves much more than sitting down with your eyes closed and repeating a mantra. It’s the primary means of spiritual evolution, of spiritual growth. It’s a shedding of all that blocks us from the sunlight of spirit. It becomes a way of life that includes the development of greater awareness, as well as learning how to choose tolerance, kindness, compassion, and love. Meditation encourages us to develop spiritually while having a human experience.
Meditation allows us to realize the spiritual beings we really are, as light shines from the sun, we are drops of His Ocean of love. To become consciously aware of the presence of the Source within us is self- realization and is a lifetime journey. This involves practice, practice, practice but what could be more important than discovering who we really are and our true purpose in life. Meditation is the only way to achieve God realization and fulfill our true purpose in life, to know who we really are. Then with detachment we find lasting happiness, joyfulness and freedom.
