EVMWD Receives Awards of Distinction

At a recent board meeting, Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Award and the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) Excellence in Budgeting Award. Both awards highlight excellence in budgeting based on stringent criteria, as well as EVMWD’s commitment to transparency and integrity in financial documents.

EVMWD prepares a two-year budget on a biennial basis that undergoes a thorough internal review. The GFOA, a nonprofit professional association, assessed this budget through rigorous nationally recognized guidelines. This is the eighth consecutive time that the GFOA has awarded EVMWD the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, which reflects the caliber of EVMWD staff.

CSMFO is a statewide organization serving all California municipal finance professionals and promoting excellence in financial management. It awarded EVMWD the Excellence in Budgeting Award for the sixth consecutive time.

“EVMWD’s finance team is committed to meeting the highest principals of governmental budgeting and transparency,” said Phil Williams, president of the EVMWD board of directors, “We are honored to receive both of these prestigious awards and will continue in our commitment to provide detailed and clear budget documents to the public.”

EVMWD provides service to more than 133,000 water, wastewater and agricultural customers in a 96-square-mile area in Western Riverside County. The District is a sub-agency of the Western Municipal Water District and a member agency of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
