Southwest Healthcare System’s Rancho Springs Medical Center has added the da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System, a platform for minimally invasive surgery that utilizes the most advanced robotic technology to enhance surgical capabilities and serve as an alternative to many traditional, open surgeries and conventional laparoscopic procedures. With the da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System, surgeons’ on-staff at Rancho Springs are able to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with remarkable precision. Rancho Springs Medical Center is the first and only hospital in Southwest Riverside County to offer this highly advanced robotic technology.
The da Vinci® Si™ has several unique features designed to provide additional clinical benefits and efficiency in the operating room, many of which translate to patient benefits. Features of the da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System include:
• Enhanced 3 dimensional, high definition vision of operative field with up to 10 times magnification
• New optical dual console allows second surgeon to provide assistance
• Superior visual clarity of tissue and anatomy, surgical dexterity and precision far greater than even the human hand
• An additional robotic “arm” that expands the types of procedures that can be performed
These technological advancements provide surgeons with unparalleled precision, dexterity and control, enabling a minimally invasive approach for many complex surgical procedures. Dr. Charles Yang from Temecula Valley OB/GYN and a surgeon on-staff at Rancho Springs Medical Center was the first to operate with the new robotic system. Dr. Yang, stated, “We are extremely happy to have the da Vinci® Si™ here at Rancho Springs. The benefits are wonderful. The recovery time is much faster and there’s much less pain for the patient.” Dr. Yang’s first surgical procedure with the da Vinci® Si™ was a hysterectomy. He further stated, “Most of these patients would have up to a three-day hospital stay. But with this robotic technology and depending on the specific procedure, they could be home the same day.”
The da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System’s advanced level of technology takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hand. “Rancho Spring’s investment in this technology reflects the Medical Center’s commitment to the very best patient outcomes and to supporting our surgeons with the very best tools available,” said Brian Connors, Director of Marketing for Southwest Healthcare System.
