The Southwest Healthcare Auxiliary has become a powerful force for good in Southwest Riverside County. Consisting of roughly 100 men and women from all walks of life, these volunteers provide their own time and effort by offering valuable services to the patients, families and visitors who come to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar and Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta. These unsung heroes have donated more than 500,000 hours, serving at the information desks, surgery desk, gift shop, imaging, and other areas throughout both hospitals.
“It’s a labor of love”, stated Auxiliary President Linda Barr. “We have the best volunteers in the world! A kind word, a simple hello, a friendly helping hand, it all adds up. We just want to provide a little tender loving care for those patients and families who may be going through a tough time.”
In addition to their volunteer hours, the Auxiliary awards $40,000.00 every year in scholarships to students choosing to enter the medical field of education. It’s their way of giving back to the healthcare professionals of future generations. They have also donated to worthy charities such as the National Alliance for the Mentally ill, Rancho Damacitas, Michelle’s Place, Jacob’s House, Guide Dogs for the Blind, American Heart Association, and others.
