How to Put Star Power into Your Makeup Style!

by Monique deGroot

Makeup can make the difference between how you feel and how people perceive you. Here are a few easy tips to make your holiday style stand out:

For someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup, or none at all, I would recommend beginning with concealer and foundation that has an SPF30. Also make sure it’s professionally matched to your skin tone. A good quality mascara in black or brown, eye pencil in black or brown, a blush and/or bronzer, and a neutral lip liner and gloss are all makeup bag must-haves.

Before makeup application skin must first be prepped with a proper skin care regimen. This includes cleansing, toning, exfoliating, and moisturizing.

When using a bronzer it is crucial to make sure you don’t just apply it to the face. Use a large powder or Kabuki brush and sweep the bronzer through the neck and along your collarbone and shoulders. Use a pop of pink on your cheeks after applying the bronzer to create a fresh glow. Blending is essential to achieving a natural look.

Something final touches I love to do is adding a few individual false eyelashes on the outer edges of the upper lash line; this will enhance the allure of your eyes. Also dab a small amount of light shimmery eye shadow in the middle of your lips either over lipstick or before lip gloss. This will give your lips that WOW factor.

Many celebrities are not the flawless beauties you may think they are. Most have a team of professional hair stylists, fashion stylists, and makeup artists they rely on to look great. So give yourself a break and start experimenting with some of these tips. I also recommend treating yourself to a blow out and having your makeup professionally applied for special occasions (and sometimes just for fun!). It can actually be very educational; you should ask your service providers for any tips and/or products they can suggest that will enhance your natural beauty.
