The American Heart Association invites the community to form a team and join the Southwest Riverside County Heart & Stroke Walk at Lake Skinner in Winchester. The annual 5k, sponsored nationally by Subway and locally by Abbott Vascular, aims to raise $150,000 for the fight against heart disease and stroke – the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers. The Heart & Stroke Walk also aims to build healthier lives by promoting healthy habits, such as walking, as a regular part of life.
WHAT: The Fifth annual Southwest Riverside County Heart & Stroke Walk includes a non-competitive 5K walk (3.1 miles) and one-mile Survivor Path. There will also be a Health and Wellness Expo offering health screenings, Survivor Lounge, Kids Zone featuring interactive games and heart-health information, Fun Fitness Demos, Live Music and more!

FEE: There is no fee to participate; participants are encouraged to help raise funds. Walkers are eligible to receive a free Heart & Stroke Walk t-shirt when they raise $100 or more.
WHY: Heart disease and stroke claims more than 831,000 lives each year. The American Heart Association aims to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent by the year 2020. The Heart & Stroke Walk brings communities together to help achieve this goal, raising funds to support lifesaving cardiovascular research, community education outreach and improvement of patient care.
