Menifee’s Rapid Growth Creates $2.23 Billion Opportunity for Local Entrepreneurs

Menifee is no longer just a bedroom community. It has become the frontier city of opportunity in Southwest Riverside County. In the coming decade, who stays and spends in Menifee will define our economy and community character. Supporting small business isn’t just important, it’s essential.

According to Cory Coburn, Economic Development Director for the City of Menifee, the city currently experiences an unmet retail and entertainment need totaling more than $2.23 billion. That figure represents the estimated amount residents spend outside Menifee each year on shopping, dining, and leisure. If even a fraction of that money stayed local, it would strengthen our economy, create new jobs, and support community improvements.

Menifee’s growth shows how much opportunity exists. The city’s population rose from 103,680 in 2022 to 107,020 in 2023, and it is projected to reach 132,862 by January 2027 (Derrigo Demographic Marketing Report). The median household income now stands around $105,000, reflecting a community with strong purchasing power. Capturing that local spending is key to building long-term prosperity.

At the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce, our mission is to help businesses start, grow, and thrive right here in Menifee. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we connect entrepreneurs with resources that drive success. Our partnerships with the City of Menifee Economic Development Department, the Small Business Development Center, and the Southern California Wine Country Economic Development Coalition give business owners access to grants, programs, and regional opportunities.

We’re also seeing more businesses from outside Menifee join our Chamber because their customers live here. Many are exploring second locations or expansions within Menifee, recognizing the value of investing in the community that supports them. This trend confirms Menifee’s growing role as a regional business hub.

If Menifee can recapture even half of its unmet need, hundreds of millions of dollars would stay in the city to support infrastructure, small business incentives, and quality-of-life projects.
