EXECUTIVE PROFILE – Kathryn Stiles

Executive Profile

Healthcare has always been part of my life. From the time I was 6 months old, my dad was a hospital co-administrator and later administrator and then a health system president. During the 70’s my earliest memories revolve around his work in building a new hospital in Portland Oregon. The days brought new stories of how the hospital was progressing, the challenges and victories. Each night when we said our family prayers, we prayed for the hospital, for those who were building it and for the patients we would eventually serve. Though I was young, I understood the need in healthcare to recruit physicians, listen to nurses, work with the community and mostly, serve and protect your patients. I witnessed the many long hours of work my dad gave to the hospital and it filled me with respect for him and those who were part of the team.

After some time spent in Ohio marketing for Kettering Health Network I was asked to apply for the role of director of marketing for LLUMC-Murrieta in 2010 and joined the project while it was under construction. It has been a privilege beyond my ability to describe to be here, to connect with our community, to serve the needs of our patients and their loved ones. At the time this article will be printed, it will be my fifth anniversary of my start date.

My background is unconventional for my current role. In 1989, I married my best friend (also in healthcare but in finance-reimbursement) who I met while working at a healthcare system in Northern California, we settled down and had two kids, Chris and Lauryn, the loves of our lives.

Resume

With my marketing degree I worked for a non-profit mission program before leaving work to raise my kids, homeschooled them (they tested off the charts so I should be able to put that on my resume, right?!), did multiple freelance businesses, taught yoga, worked as a sous chef and re-entered my career in healthcare marketing in 2007.
