Customer Service is Key to Success

bMG-McCullough-Chrisy Chris McCullough

Ask any business owner about the key to their success and in addition to offering a great product, the next thing you’ll hear is “provide wonderful customer service.”

We’ve all heard the old adage that “the customer is always right,” but in today’s economic times businesses need to go the extra mile to earn a customer’s business. Poor customer service is often a deal-breaker for many people. One bad experience and that customer will never return.

How many times have you gone through the supermarket check-out line and not been greeted by the cashier? How about at a restaurant when the host/hostess can’t manage to give you a smile or a “hello” and just jumps into “how many” and “the wait is about 15 minutes?”

Just a few tweaks to their approach would make the visit a much better experience. Why can’t the host welcome us with a greeting and after letting us know about the wait, inform us about the restaurant bar and if we’d like to wait there? As for the supermarket, how about just acknowledging us and treating us as humans and not cattle getting herded through the line.

Successful businesses work with their employees and teach them the correct ways to deal with customers. There are the occasional “difficult” customers but anyone with a set of “people-reading” skills can tell this person will need more than a greeting and smile, they want efficient, to-the-point service.

Rabobank, N.A. has been recognized by the esteemed J.D. Power and Associates each of the last two years, garnering the “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Retail Banking in California” titles in 2011 and 2012. The bank was recognized by its customers in an online survey for the overall banking experience, we believe customer service played a significant part in earning the recognition.

We are honored that our customers took the time to complete the survey and had such a favorable opinion of us. Customer satisfaction is something we work hard on every day and it’s nice to be recognized by our customers.
